About Us
Our name represents two very important things: who we are as individuals, and an appreciation for how we became a company in the first place.Â

First off, we just straight love to game! The board game collecting hobby might be “individual”, but the community brings all types together over some friendly competition — like a sport, but even more inclusive (and honestly even more fun.) Second, but even more importantly, is the wonderful family that all three of us founders married into. Terry and Dick Sharkey are the grandparents of our three wives, and they were every family gathering’s centerpiece for many years–the proverbial table around which we all sat. Without them and the family that followed, our company and friendship wouldn’t exist. So Barbershop Games’ name comes straight from Dick’s, or “Pop-pop’s” as our wives would say, lifelong profession of cutting hair, first in the Army, and later at his own shop in Hollywood, Florida.
Appreciating aside, the Barbershop name aligns perfectly with what we love about boardgaming. They are usually less about the shop (or games in this case) and more about the people enjoying them — a chance to laugh and make or share a memory together, tell a recent story or joke, or just catch up. A Barbershop, like most board game tables, is a place where friends and strangers alike take a load off and form a connection with others through conversations and the enjoyment of a simple pleasure — leaving with a fresh, renewed feeling (especially if you win!) So it’s our mission and focus at Barbershop Games to provide only games that function very much like an actual barbershop by bringing people together, generating lasting memories, and enriching our communities.Â
